Leaving Serbia

For those who don't know about a small country in Europe (but not in EU), Serbia once was a part of Yugoslavia, much praised union of six countries. Praises, yes, but the reality was different for those who lived there. But, that is a theme for some other post.
War in the nineties was a brutal, massive and devastating to millions in ex-Yugoslavia. As any other war, it was bloody, ugly, stupid and avoidable. The worst part is that after all those killings from every side, we, then just children, were left with the aftermath of it. We grew up not knowing what normal is. For us, it was normal to wait in line for bread, it was normal not to travel anywhere, not to have three meals a day and toys, for us, it was normal to have worried family on a verge of starvation. And last, not the least, it was perfectly normal for us to have NATO bombs over our heads. Just another day, huh?
After all that, we were young in a country that had no jobs, but, we had democrats in charge and promises that, if we just hold on a bit, all will be well. And tired and weak as we were, we believed.

It's more than 15 years since that and now we have even less jobs. That, in short, is the background of this story.
The story of leaving this country once and for all.
